5K Race/Walk, Novem­ber 2, 9 a.m., Dav­en­port River­walk (Rip­ley St. at Bieder­beck Dr.):

Fam­ily Free Day, Novem­ber 2, 10 a.m. — 2 p.m., Figge Art Museum [FREE]:
Cel­e­brate El Dia de los Muer­tos at the Figge! Fam­i­lies and Friends can spend the day remem­ber­ing their loved ones while inter­act­ing in the gal­leries and stu­dios as they explore the altars and Catri­nas on dis­play. Fam­i­lies will enjoy mak­ing a vari­ety of projects includ­ing skele­ton masks and fig­ures, small remem­brance paper flow­ers and but­ter­flies, and learn to make and dec­o­rate tra­di­tional sugar skulls. Spe­cial snacks, music, sto­ry­time and a film will also be on the sched­ule. Bal­let Folk­lorico will cap off the sched­uled activ­i­ties with their per­for­mance of tra­di­tional dance in the Grand Lobby.  Cock­tails with Cat­rina [past event], Sep­tem­ber 26, 5–8 p.m., Figge Art Museum [FREE]:
Casa Quad Cities is host­ing a cock­tails mixer to cel­e­brate the open­ing of our exhibit at the Figge. There will be free admis­sion to the Figge, and it kicks off our Dia de los Muer­tos cel­e­bra­tions. The Day of the Dead exhi­bi­tion will open with a bang with Cock­tails with Catri­nas, a cel­e­bra­tion of His­panic Her­itage Month and the exhi­bi­tion open­ing. The event will fea­ture music, free snacks, salsa danc­ing and spe­cialty cock­tails among the larger-than-life Cat­rina dolls from Casa Gua­na­ju­ato. The exhi­bi­tion will show­case the tra­di­tions of El Día de los Muer­tos. All par­tic­i­pants includ­ing the Humane Soci­ety of Scott County, East­ern Iowa Com­mu­nity Col­leges and the SEED Pro­gram will be in atten­dance.
